Learning how to think about and discuss literature in a much more detailed way is a big part of what makes school more challenging for 3rd-grade students. In 3rd grade, these 8- and 9-year-old students read lengthier and more difficult passages and stories. Assignments are devoted to analyzing the meanings and overall themes of what they have read.
